Dr. Simion Costea boasts a remarkable academic trajectory having served as a Jean Monnet Professor of EU Institutions, History and International Relations at the University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science, and Technology in Targu-Mures, Romania, and Global Governance Institute Brussels, with 8 books and over 45 scientific articles published. In acknowledgment of his scientific research value, he earned the prestigious Romanian Academy Award in 2006, the highest honor bestowed upon a scholar in the country. Between 2012 and 2022 Simion Costea was an Expert in the European Commission (DG NEAR), working on policy and strategy for the European Neighbourhood Policy, the Eastern Partnership, and Enlargement Negotiations (where he served as Chapter desk for Ch. 30 – External Relations and Ch. 33 – Financial and budgetary provisions) working also for the Commissioners` Group on External Action, Outreach to Think-tanks and Academia. Before this, he worked as Policy Advisor on foreign affairs in the European Parliament (2007-2010).

Dr. Mihaela Daciana Natea is a distinguished Jean Monnet Professor and author, Associate Professor at the University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Targu-Mures (UMFST). She has a PhD in international relations and European studies obtained in 2011, in Romania as well. She is the director (Project Manager) of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence on European Security and Disinformation in Multicultural Societies (UMFST), established through an EU funded project. She coordinates Center’s research on strategic communication, disinformation, and public administration in the complex political environment in Eastern Europe. On these topics, she has published several books (authored/coordinated) at international and national publishing houses (e.g. L’Harmattan Paris, Pro Universitaria, Curentul Juridic) and journals (Nang Yang Business Journal, L’Europe Unie, Paris etc.). Mihaela Natea boasts remarkable experience as an external expert for the European Commission (since 2018), working on Science Diplomacy and EU Eastern Partnership activities (Brussels, Lviv, Tbilisi, Milano, Dublin etc.).

Dr Maria Costea is a scientific researcher with the Romanian Academy, Cluj-Napoca Branch, Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities in Targu-Mures (2006-current), member of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence on European Security and Disinformation in Multicultural Societies (UMFST), coordinated by Dr. Mihaela Natea. She is a historian who has focused her scientific research (5 books, over 30 articles, numerous conferences, and lectures) on Contemporary International Relations in the area of Eastern Europe, URSS and post-Soviet republics, on geopolitics and Russian propaganda in XX-XXI centuries. Born in Ukraine (URSS), educated in Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania, she speaks Russian, Ukrainian and Romanian (Moldova) and has a deep understanding of the realities in the Soviet and post-Soviet areas. Dr Maria Costea did numerous study visits at research institutions and archives in Russia (Moscow), Ukraine (Kyiv, Chernivtsi), Republic of Moldova (Chisinau), Romania (Bucharest, Transylvanian cities), Bruxelles, Versailles.

Dr. Vira Ratsiborynska is a Visiting Professor on international relations and international security at Brussels School of Governance, Vrije University Brussels in Brussels, Belgium. She is also an Associate Director and Chief Academic Officer at Asia Pacific and European Security Innovation Forum and Center of Excellence (APSI CoE); Research analyst/ contractor working in support of the NATO entities, and a Member at the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on European Security and Disinformation in Multicultural Societies. Her professional experience includes working in support of international organizations as the European institutions and NATO entities. Vira Ratsiborynska holds a Ph.D. from the University of Strasbourg, France. She wrote her dissertation on the European Neighbourhood Policy (with regard to the East) and publishes extensively in English and French on the topics of the European Union and the Eastern flank’s security, the relations with the Eastern Partnership countries, NATO and Russia. She obtained a Master’s degree in EU Studies from the College of Europe (Belgium) and a Master in Political and Social Studies from Sciences Po (France).
